LERN

History Highlight

|

Celebrating our 50th Anniversary Conference this year. LERN has been a high profile leader in society. Here is one of the many highlights from the past 50 years.

No Selling in Class
In the mid-1990s an instructor with a public school in Miami, Florida, was selling his company and product in class.

The complaints made national news. In response, LERN:

1.Went on NBC Nightly News television and reassured the nation that selling in class is not good, and we obviously do not allow it.

2.Formed a Blue Ribbon Committee headed by LERN leader Frank Chiaramonte of Hartford, Connecticut, to devise a code of ethics regarding this issue.

The Code was distributed to all programs in North America. There has not been a serious issue since.

The new 50th Anniversary logo design was the idea of Scott Cashman, Chair of the Board of Directors for 2023-2024.
