Tip on Course Descriptions
Here’s how many words you can cut from your course descriptions. But first, a common question we get asked is whether or not you need course descriptions in your print brochure.
The answer is that YES, you need course descriptions in your print brochure. And on your website. And in your email promotions.
Descriptions sell the course. Logistics (time, place) do not sell your course.
The minimum number of words for a good course description is 40, says brochure and marketing expert Julie Coates. The ideal is 60-80 words. So you can cut course descriptions longer than 80 words.
If you have a very profitable course, event or program, you don’t want to cut the description at all, says Coates. To find out why, just ask us. Email us at info@lern.org with the subject line “Description length for high dollar courses.”
