The collapse of the for-profit University of Phoenix is welcome news for nonprofits and society.
The news was a positive event and maybe a turning point in the disastrous experiment with for-profit companies primarily trying to provide quality education for the general public.

The field of lifelong learning and continuing education, including LERN’s 600 nonprofit members, still faces a big threat from for-profits.

LERN’s stance is clear: only you as a nonprofit can serve all sectors of society. Education and lifelong learning should remain nonprofit to be in the best interests of society, extend lifelong learning to underserved communities and create the economic prosperity and quality of life people deserve.
