ROLE of the POSITION
The Division of Educational Outreach (DEO) is comprised of six units, Continuing Education, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), Community2Campus, Summer Term, Public Lands Institute (PLI) and Cannon Survey Center. Each unit within DEO plays a vital role in DEO’s mission to provide education, research and service to the university and its community. The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of marketing and communication strategies and products for all DEO units and is expected to be the public relations representative for the Division. This position oversees the day-to-day activities of the marketing team and is responsible for managing the administrative, fiscal and staffing functions for the marketing unit.
The Director will work collaboratively with each DEO unit to increase enrollment and revenues and to enhance DEO’s image. To accomplish this goal, the Director must have demonstrated ability to make data driven decisions and develop and execute operating and strategic plans for the unit that align with DEO and UNLV’s mission and goals.
This position is also responsible for the design and production of the Continuing Education and OLLI catalogs and brochures which are distributed for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. The Director will be expected to have the ability to design an effective and appealing catalog that will help boost enrollments while ensuring that the design process is efficient and cost effective.
The Director of Marketing and Communication reports to the Vice Provost for the Division of Educational Outreach and is a vital member of the leadership team. As a member of the leadership team, the Director is expected to provide advice and counsel on marketing and communication issues and must work with each DEO unit to understand and address their marketing needs.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred, from a regionally accredited college or university in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, Advertising or other related field. A minimum of six years of comparable professional experience is required with some experience with higher education groups or clients, media and private sector. At least three years of supervisory experience is also required. The candidate must have advanced knowledge of and experience in marketing, public relations, advertising and communication and knowledge of operations of higher education institutions. Previous marketing experience in continuing education or extended learning environment and demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing strategies to drive enrollment is highly desirable. The ideal candidate must be innovative and creative, have a strong knowledge of the publication process and must have the ability to lead the graphic design process. The position requires excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage program budgets and experience with fiscal oversight. This position requires a self-starter with a very positive, optimistic attitude, who easily and meaningfully engages others and who fully embraces diversity, equity, and inclusiveness.

SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
