This is personal.
Many of your LERN staff have had personal experience with the protests and police action, being located in the Twin Cities metro area. And one of our staff on the west coast had a first floor shop in her apartment building looted. So this is personal for many of your LERN staff.
LERN stands with the protesters and those working for justice, and peace. LERN has had a history of advocacy, civil rights work, and diversity in our leadership over many decades. We know people who were friends of those killed.
Last year we created a special committee on diversity headed up by Kristy Carter, a LERN Board member, from Conway, Arkansas. All of us can, and should, work for racial justice in North America.
