Gen X and Gen Y have different priorities when it comes to new management concepts. The differences has implications for your own workplace, plus working with other generations and even customers.
Gen Y/Millennials overwhelmingly say the most immediate and relevant new management concept is Exploring empowerment in decision making, according to an exclusive survey of UGotClass management students. On the other hand, Gen X’s biggest priority is Moving from silos to networks, followed by Managing when ‘no one is normal’.
“Gen X, which is the current generation of managers, seems to be clearly oriented towards their immediate management issues, including managing systems and younger workers,” says LERN’s Wm. Draves. “While Gen Y, which is still aspiring to greater leadership roles in the organization, wants and values more empowerment in decision making.”
In fact, Gen Y’s top priority is Gen X’s least priority. And Gen X’s top priority is low on Gen Y’s list.
Here’s the four new management concepts. The UGotClass management students for the most recent year were asked which one is most immediate and relevant to you.
